尊敬的靳诺主席助理、尊敬的张茂华副秘书长、尊敬的赵德忠书记,各位来宾，朋友们,晚上好!

Honored Vice-Chairman Jin Nuo, Honored Vice-Secretary General Zhang Maohua, Honored Secretary Zhao Dezhong, all guests and friends, Good evening．

今天在新年来临之际，我们在此隆重集会欢度2008年的到来。 石河子大学有幸承办了由新疆维吾尔自治区教育厅主办的新年招待会。借此机会，我代表石河子大学感谢自治区和兵团领导对我们的信任，感谢你们长期以来对石河子大学发展所给予的大力支持与关注，感谢自治区和兵团各部门对我们的关心与帮助，同时，对新疆外国文教专家、教师、留学生以及兄弟院校的光临表示热烈欢迎。

Today, we are here holding the grand gathering to celebrate the coming New Year happily together, and Shihezi Univeristy is so honored to organize the New Year Reception sponsored by Xinjiang Department of Education. I, on behalf of Shihezi University, express my heartfelt thanks for the great trust from leaders of Xinjiang Uyghor Autonomous Region and Bingtun leaders, so many thanks for your long-term great supports and concerns in Shihezi University’s development, as well as for care and help from related senior departments, and meanwhile, my warmest welcome for the presence of all foreign experts, teachers, students and brother universities.

众所周知，21世纪高等教育国际化趋势对中国高校产生了巨大而深刻的影响，加快了中国高等教育发展的步伐，极大地促进了中国高校教育、科研及教学质量的提升，高等教育国际化发展趋势对我们西部高校的建设与发展也同样意义重大。

As we know, the tendency of internationalization of higher education in the twenty- first century has a great and deep influence on Chinese universities, and it has sped up the development of Chinese higher education and promoted the levels of education, research and teaching quality of Chinese universities. This tendency is greatly significant for the construction and development of our western universities.

石河子大学走向了世界，世界也走近了石河子大学。近年来，石河子大学的国际交流与合作发展迅速，先后与近百所国外高校和科研机构建立了学术交流与科研合作关系，并在许多方面取得了丰硕成果。越来越多的国外知名学者和外籍教师来校讲学和任教，越来越多的留学生来校接受学历教育和汉语培训，由此极大地扩大和提升了石河子大学的社会美誉度和影响力。

Shihezi University has opened up to and stepped into the world, and vice versa. So far, Shihezi University has established relationships of academic exchange and research cooperation with nearly one hundred overseas universities and scientific research institutions, and made fruitful results in many fields. More and more well-known foreign scholars and teachers come to Shihezi University to deliver lectures and work, and more and more international students take the degree education and Chinese language training. All this makes its social reputation and influence become higher and greater.

一个开放的中国正展现着它的活力与实力，一个开放的大学也正洋溢着朝气与希望。如今，石河子大学坚持“特色立校”，并努力向国内一流、国际有影响的高水平教学研究型大学的目标迈进。

An opening China is releasing its vitality and strength to the world and an opening university is brimming over with its vigor and hope. For that, Shihezi University is developing faster and better by its own advantages, and marching on to its goal to become a domestically- and- internationally- known teaching and research -model university.

正如新年招待会主体所体现的那样，建立国际间友谊需要世界不同国家之间的文化交流。各国文化创造了丰富多彩的人类文明，而国际间的文化交流又共同发展了人类文明。我相信，这对高校的发展也同样具有特别重要的意义。

As the subject of this reception expresses, international friendship is based on cultural exchange of different nations. Different national cultures have created colorful human civilizations, and the cultural exchange has developed human civilizations together. I believe its importance is also the same to the development of any university.
